The
4th International Conference on Quality Assurance of Islamic Higher
Education
In collaboration with the full and
associate members of IQA in Indonesia, the aforementioned conference was
conducted on October 28th – 30th, 2019 in Jakarta,
Indonesia. The National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) as a
full member was hosting the fourth International
Conference on Quality Assurance of Islamic Higher Education with the theme "
Quality Assurance for Higher Education 4.0 in the Islamic World: Learning from
the Past and Meeting
the Future Challenges ". The conference was also supported and co-hosted by
Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah (UIN Jakarta), Universitas Islam
Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN Malang) and Universitas Islam Indonesia
(UII).
The objectives of the aforementioned conference
were:
1.
To contribute in developing collaboration
of national, regional, and international institutions to pursue quality of
Higher Education.
2.
To facilitate the improvement of
quality, mobility, and students’ exchange at national, regional, and
international levels
3.
To strengthen development of Quality
Assurance capacity
4.
To develop better understanding of
Quality Assurance System in the Islamic World
The conference was officially opened by
the Director General of Institutional Research, Technology, and Higher
Education, Dr. Patdono Suwignyo representing Ministry of Education and Culture
of the Republic of Indonesia.

In his welcoming speech Prof. T. Basaruddin,
the President of IQA mentioned that since 2002 Indonesia Islamic Higher
Education landscape has gone through major changes in form, shape, and size and
that, all constitute the transformation and restructuring program of our higher
education system. It is the transformation programme necessitated by our
unequal past and desire to have an effective higher education system for the
benefit of all Indonesian.

The distinguished speakers, Dr. Jawaher
Al-Mudhahki, the former President of IQA and Dr. Susanna Karakhanyan, the
President of INQAAHE were invited to contribute a high level of advanced
learning, experience, and excellence. While during the plenary session, three
distinguished university rectors were invited to give their view on experiences
and best practices in quality assurance in their institutions, namely Prof.
Amany Lubis, Prof. Abdul Haris, and Fathul Wahid, PhD from UIN Jakarta, UIN
Malang, and UII Yogyakarta respectively.

Additionally, there were eight other
speakers, representing Islamic Higher Education Institution during parallel
session of the conference. The discussions were focus on the research results
in quality assurance of higher education.
Lastly, the conference was ended with a
workshop on study program institutional accreditation. There were about 109
participants from all over Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and United Arab
Emirates.
